Roosevelt Elk are the largest species of elk in North America; second in size within the deer
family only to the moose. Adult males can be up to 5 feet tall at the shoulders and
weigh up to 1,100 pounds. Roosevelt elk (aka Olympic elk) are found in coastal regions
from Humboldt County in northern California to British Columbia.
I shot a video of this pair of bulls in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park
on a cool December morning. They were antler wrestling, even though the rut was
over 1-2 months earlier - they were not putting much effort into it.
The video is about 13 seconds long.
