S. F. Peninsula Fog Cascade Video
Prev | Fort Baker index page | Next

Often on summer days, the heat of the interior of California
(Sacramento & San Joaquin Valleys) draws cool air from the Pacific.
The only sea-level path is through the Golden Gate,
which is often fogged-in.
When the marine layer is thicker,
the fog also flows over the Coast Range.

I shot this video 2 weeks ago while driving to San Francisco.
It shows the fog cascading over a 1,000' ridge and the
San Andreas Lakes toward San Francisco Bay.

The video is a 10x time-lapse to better show the movement.
